Hi, I’m Catherine Hughes – a freelance journalist and writer, and author of children’s nature activity books.

I’ve been blogging about gardening and nature play for over 10 years, but my love for making things grow started much earlier. As a child, you’d often find me grubbing around on my dad’s allotment, fascinated by how a tiny seed could turn into something amazing and getting hands-on with nature in any way I could. That early obsession never left me; I’m still obsessed with developing my own patch of land and I love encouraging others to do the same through my writing.

After a career in brand marketing, I decided to focus on my family and turn my blogging side hustle into a full-time gig. It’s been an incredible journey, and my blog is now one of Vuelio’s Top 5 Gardening Blogs. My goal is simple: to inspire my readers to have a go at gardening, explore nature, and have fun along the way. You don’t need to be an expert to enjoy gardening – it really is for everyone!

My passion for getting kids engaged with nature has now extended into books; I’m co-author of two award-winning children’s nature books published by HarperCollins. My Amazon page lists my published titles.

I’m also a freelance writer, and my work has featured in major publications including Grow Your Own Magazine, House Beautiful, Daily Mail, Thompson & Morgan, and many more.
