How To Create A Stylish Look For Your Bedroom Design

November 17, 2021 by Catherine Leave a Comment

We spend a lot of time in our bedrooms, so it’s important to make this key room in our home comfortable. However, when it comes to designing a welcoming bedroom, comfortable doesn’t have to mean boring!

Some simple changes can breathe new life into your space, and give you the perfect room for relaxing or working from home.

Here are some tips on how to create a stylish look for your bedroom.

Invest in good bedding

A simple way to dial up the style in your bedroom is to buy new linen bedding. This is soft, temperature-regulated and hypoallergenic, making it the perfect bedding for any bedroom.

As well as comfort, linen bedding can deliver on looks too. Linen sets can be chosen in different colours or prints that fit perfectly into your bedroom design.

Get the lighting right

Lighting is a key element of any room’s decoration. It sets the mood, and can complement your decoration and overall look.

Having the proper lighting for your bedroom is very important. As well as being useful, it can impact on your quality of rest.

You definitely need a ceiling light in your bedroom. This will give you a basic level of ambient light that allows you to use the space when it’s dark. You can then add in task lighting for desks, dressing tables and bedside tables. Finish the look with accent lighting to highlight particular features or create ambience.

Think carefully about wall decor

Another aspect that can make or break a good bedroom design is wall colour. Think carefully about the mood you’re aiming to create. Palettes like taupes, olive greens, and soft blues will create a feeling of calm, while bolder colours can be more stimulating.

If you’re nervous about combining colours in your wall decor, a colour wheel is a great resource.

Introduce a focal point

A centerpiece can work wonders in your bedroom. The focal point of your decoration is usually the bed, but you could also highlight a fireplace or other decorative feature.

You can also use occasional furniture such as side tables to introduce wow factor and draw the eye to a particular area of the room. The added bonus of this option is you will gain extra storage space.

Soundproofing

Most bedrooms experience noise from outside, and that can make sleeping difficult. You may want to consider soundproofing options to help you get a good night’s sleep.

Simple ways to make a bedroom more soundproof include plush carpets, window dressings and blinds in thick fabrics, and sealing gaps around doors and windows. You could also try introducing background noise such as ocean sounds or white noise to help mask unwanted sounds.

Embrace scent

Adding some lovely scents to your bedroom is a simple and low-cost way to make it feel more luxurious and welcoming. Lavender and vanilla are popular relaxing scents for bedrooms, but you can mix things up with more lively citrus fragrances too.

Reed diffusers are perfect for bedrooms as they don’t pose a fire risk. If you love scented candles, by all means use them, but don’t leave them burning when you’re not in the room, and always extinguish them before you fall asleep.

Get the flooring right

The flooring is another important part of your bedroom. If the room is on the small side, stay away from heavy, complex designs as these will make the space feel even smaller. The best option here is a simple flooring design that complements the colour of your walls and furniture.

Rugs are a brilliant way to quickly change the look of your flooring without spending a fortune. Use them to introduce an accent colour, add a touch of luxury, or simply provide a warm welcome for your feet when you get out of bed.

Hopefully these tips will help you to create a stylish bedroom that you love spending time in. Have you got any bedroom design tips to add to the list?
