Isn’t autumn a fantastic time of year for getting outdoors and enjoying nature?
We try to squeeze in as many outdoor adventures as we can in autumn; whether it’s a day trip to a specific location, or just a family walk in the local park, we all love the chance to really interact with everything that the season has to offer. Conker hunts and leaf collecting always feature rather heavily!
I do think that it’s all too easy to let busy family life stop us getting out there and enjoying the great outdoors. We’ve had times when the hectic pace of term time has made planning and finding time for a family day out feel like too much work – even though we know that when we do make the effort, an outdoor adventure has such a positive effect on all of us.
Sometimes a little motivation is all we need though, and Land Rover are aiming to provide just that with their new podcast series, The Discovery Adventures.
The Discovery Adventures podcast by Land Rover is a seven part mystery drama podcast for all the family, designed to be listened to during a car journey. It takes you on an exciting adventure, following the trail of plotters threatening to bring chaos to the country, whilst also featuring amazing stories about specific UK locations.
We listened to the series on a recent day trip, and were all totally absorbed in the story, characters and locations. For starters, it sounds incredible; Land Rover have worked with award-winning sound pioneer Gareth Fry, recording across multiple UK locations in binaural sound, and that means you feel like you really are part of the adventure.
There’s an all-star cast too, with lots of famous actors making an appearance, plus the involvement of leading outdoor experts Chris Packham, Alice Roberts, Tristan Gooley and Neil Oliver, all contributing to make the series a really enjoyable and inspiring listen.
We learned some really interesting things about each location featured; it was great to chat about our memories of the ones that we’d already visited, and also to discover some new ideas for future trips. I love the fact that it sparked lots of questions from the kids; we touched on history, wildlife, science and geology, something that doesn’t happen on our typical car journeys! The story itself had us gripped too; I’m not going to give away the plot, but trust me, there’s plenty of suspense, a good amount of humour, and a few twists to keep you guessing!
We really enjoyed the Discovery Adventures podcast by Land Rover. As well as keeping us entertained in the car, it really did showcase some of the amazing treasures on offer in the UK and inspire us to plan some more family trips of our own. Bring on the next outdoor adventure!
