Collaborative post
If you love getting outside to do some exercise, then this blog post is for you. There’s nothing better than breathing in the fresh air and making the most of the space that your garden offers you, but the same old routine can get boring pretty quickly.
Fortunately, there are lots of ways you can switch up your back garden workout routine – and this post has some great ideas for you.
If you do want to take your fitness to the next level, think about reaching out to personal fitness coaches who can give you guidance on the kinds of moves that will help you progress in your exercise journey. For now, check out these ideas for working out in the garden to get you motivated.

Jump Rope
Most of us associate jump rope with the school playground, but it’s actually an incredible workout. Not only does it work almost every part of your body, but it’s also a whole lot of fun.
Jump rope has taken off significantly across social media since the pandemic, as many people had to think of new ways to keep fit at home. It’s a very low-cost activity, and all you need is a patch of grass to jump on with your rope. Once you get used to a basic jump, you’ll be able to learn all kinds of tricks and could even end up with a routine that impresses the neighbours!

Hula Hoop
Another childhood favourite, the hula hoop is a great way to strengthen your core and practice stamina and control. Building your core can feel like hard work, especially if you’re not a fan of crunches and sit-ups, but using a hula hoop will help to make it feel like playtime again.
Make sure you choose an adult-sized hoop, and opt for a weighted model if you really want to challenge your muscles. While you could use your hula hoop indoors, using it in the garden will reduce your risk of accidentally knocking something over.

Yoga
There’s really nothing like doing yoga and connecting with nature at the same time. Try waking up early and doing sun salutations beneath the blue sky to welcome the day.
Using your garden for stretching and strengthening can give you both a spiritual and physical boost. Everything about yoga encourages you to be at one with the planet, so practicing while immersed in nature is the perfect fit.

Gardening
If you’ve never thought of yourself as having green fingers, then gardening might be far from your thoughts, but it can actually be an effective workout when done right. Gardening jobs like digging, raking and carrying heavy bags of compost will all contribute to your overall fitness – and they’ll make your garden look better too. What’s more, you’ll be learning new skills and potentially developing a new hobby while you’re at it. If your garden is overgrown, it could take a lot of work to get it back into shape, so get ready to feel those muscles burn!
