Outdoor activities for kids: free printable spring bucket list

February 25, 2021 by Catherine Leave a Comment

Do you need some inspiration on fun outdoor activities for kids this spring? This free printable spring bucket list for kids has 40 great ideas to keep them busy!

Spring outdoor activities for kids

Spring is such a great time of year to get outdoors with the kids and have some fun. The weather is (hopefully) warming up, the days are getting longer, and nature is coming to life. This all feels really exciting after the long months of winter. In addition, it takes much less time to actually get outside when you’re not bundling up in multiple layers.

The many benefits of outdoor play for kids

Spending time having fun outdoors has so many benefits.

Outdoor time helps to keep us fit, combats stress, lets us engage with nature, and stimulates creative play.  Plus, time spent outside is often listed as a key contributor to wellbeing in general.

Stepping away from the screens and getting outdoors can also have a positive impact on children’s mental health. As well as providing a useful sense of perspective, being outside and engaging with nature can have a powerful impact on the body’s production of feelgood chemicals.

Outdoor activities are a brilliant option when kids say they’re bored too!

Easy ways to do more fun family outdoor activities with kids

Increasing the amount of time you spend outdoors with the kids doesn’t have to be complicated. At its most basic level, don’t worry about planning activities, and just get everyone outside – whether that’s for a walk, a picnic, or a play in the park. Nature will inevitably provide you with entertainment along the way.

Another simple but effective way to increase family time outdoors is to create a ‘grab and go’ box. Put all the things you need for kids outdoor activities in it – think hats, gloves, wet wipes, tissues, snacks – and keep it somewhere easily accessible. If you don’t have to run around getting everything ready, then heading outdoors with the kids becomes much easier – and quicker.

Finally, download my kids bucket list ideas so you’ve got lots of inspiration for fun things to do with kids outside, all in one place.
