Have you put up your Christmas decorations yet? We did ours last weekend and it’s one of my favourite parts of the season, I love making the house feel so celebratory. I like to extend the decorations to the outside of the house a little bit as well, to create a really festive welcome as soon as you step onto the drive. The main decoration I use for this is a lovely fresh Christmas wreath, hanging in pride of place on the front door.
I think it’s hard to beat natural Christmas wreaths, incorporating fresh foliage, flowers or fruit. They give visual impact, texture and even scent in a way that artificial wreaths just can’t deliver. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying myself browsing the internet for options this Christmas, and thought I’d share my top picks with you.
Wild Hedgerow Festive Door Wreath, £59.99, Notonthehighstreet.com
If it’s a classic style of fresh wreath you’re looking for, this beauty by The Flower Studio at Notonthehighstreet.com is a perfect choice. It’s packed with fresh foliage, pine cones, roses, twigs and blue fir. It’s quite a compact wreath at 30cm so would look great on a smaller door.
Luxury Rustic Country Wreath, £39, Etsy
A rustic take on the traditional fir wreath, I really like this wreath’s open, informal shape – it would look fantastic on a cottage door. There’s a lot going on here – Noble Fir, pine cones, dried oranges, cinammon sticks, crab apples, eucalyptus and dogwood – so this wreath will really make an impact. At 50cm it’s big too, making it great value for money.
Festive Dried Fruit Willow Wreath, £60, Etsy
If you like your Christmas wreaths without the greenery this is a great option. I really like the use of unusual components like red peppers and limes, I doubt you’d see something similar on your neighbours’ doors. With all those dried fruits plus cinnamon scent I bet this one smells amazing.
Red Nordic Christmas Wreath, from £65, Philippa Craddock Flowers
Indulge your love of Scandi style with this colourful option, featuring blue spruce, eucalyptus, hazel and fir cones. Wouldn’t it look fantastic on a pale door? It’s available in three sizes too, with the largest 65cm – wow!
Festive Succulent Star Wreath, £35, Marks & Spencer
Now this is something a little different. The centre of this woven star wreath is planted with three red Sempervivums and decorated with cones and berries. I love the fact that you can re-pot the plants after Christmas and continue to enjoy them in the garden.
Christmas Wreath, £95, Jo Malone
What a way to blow the budget! I absolutely love the way this wreath manages to be both simple and shamelessly decedent. The use of misteltoe is a cheeky touch, and the shiny baubles contrast wonderfully with the soft textures of the ribbon and foliage. I can see this very much at home on a smart black urban door.
For all other kinds of wreaths and garlands, I’d recommend HeftyBerry Store. They have a great selection of spring, summer, and fall wreaths and some of the more unique designs not present in other places. Definitely check them out as well.
So, what do you think of my top picks for Christmas wreaths? Will you be decorating your home with any of them this year? Or have you found your perfect wreath already? Let me know in the comments.
I love a natural Christmas wreath and I’d love to make my own but it’s just so much easier to buy one. I really like the Nordic wreath and it’s definitely something I’d pick next year.
I think it would be lovely to make my own wreath but I haven’t been brave enough to try yet!
