Here are some carpet cleaning recipes for making a cleaning solution of vinegar and soda:
- Mix 1 tbsp of sodium bicarbonate and 1tbsp of detergent with 2 litres of cold water. Add 2 tbsp of vinegar essence (70%).
- Pour 0.5 cups of soda into 5 litres of water, stir, and pour in 3 tbsp of vinegar.
- Mix sodium dioxide, a tablespoon of washing powder and 4-5 tbsp of vinegar with one litre of warm water.
A solution of baking soda, finely ground salt and liquid laundry soap is another good option. The ingredients are combined in the proportions 2: 2: 1.

Domestic Carpet Cleaning with Ammonia
Ammonium chloride is an effective carpet cleaning tool. It removes dirty marks, copes well with spills such as wine, tea, coffee and juice, and can also refresh colour. To prepare a solution, mix one tbsp of detergent and one tbsp of ammonia with one litre of water.
You do need to be careful with this method, as ammonia is a powerful chemical. Take care when preparing the solution, wear protective gloves, and make sure you open the windows.
Domestic Carpet Cleaning with Hydrogen Peroxide
Peroxide is a cheap cleaning tool that can removes stubborn stains such as blood, and also deal with nasty smells such as pet urine. To prepare a stain remover, you will need to mix 1 tbsp of warm water with 150ml of hydrogen peroxide and 0.5 tbsp of baking soda, then pour the solution into a spray bottle.
Hydrogen peroxide can also be mixed with vinegar or lemon juice. You can reduce the strength of the solution by diluting it with water in the ratio 1:3.
