One of my favourite things about the lead-up to Christmas is sharing festive books with my children. We’ve built up a little collection over the years, and it’s always lovely to rediscover our old favourites each year. The build-up to Christmas is inevitably hectic and exciting for kids, and I always find that sharing a lovely Christmassy story is a brilliant way to help them (and me!) unwind and spend some cosy quiet time together.
This year we’ve added a new adventure to our Christmas book collection: “A Christmas Tale”. It’s a festive storybook created by Joules, featuring the Crackle family and Emily’s four pets: Montague the dog, Sausage the cat, Paul the rabbit and Molly the Goose.
The book is gorgeously illustrated, with bold colours and lots of lovely detail. The story is really engaging, and had the kids gripped from start to finish; I’m not going to give it away, but there’s madcap adventure, suspense, and a lovely feel-good ending. And the pets’ names are just genius.
This is one of those books that the adults enjoy too; as well as being beautifully written, there are some wry observations of the stresses of Christmas that parents encounter which had me nodding in agreement!
It’s also great to see that 100% of the profit from sales of the book will go to Charitably Joules, which aims to support local communities and partner with a variety of charities including The Princes Trust, Hospice UK and Farms for City Children.
A Christmas Tale is a perfect story to share with the kids before Christmas; I also think it would make a fab stocking filler. And if you’re after some more gift inspiration, check out the Joules Festive Collection which has lots of Christmassy ideas for all the family.
To find out more about the book’s characters and adventure, pop over to the Christmas tale hub. There’s also a fab Christmas Tale colouring competition, with a £100 Joules gift card to be won. You simply download a colouring sheet from the Joules blog, get your little one to create a masterpiece, and upload it or submit via twitter or instagram. There are four colouring sheets to choose from, so it’s a great little creative activity to keep kids busy in the run-up to Christmas.
A Christmas Tale costs £4.95 and is available to buy at all Joules stores. Will you be wrapping up a copy for your little one this Christmas?
