Six easy ways to revive your home

Is your home starting to show its age?  Time and money might be short, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some simple changes to revive your home and add value.

If your home is in need of a makeover, here are six easy ways to get it back into shape.

Paint it

One obvious way to rejuvenate your home is to give the exterior a paint job.  Think about your walls, window frames, doors, fences and gates.  Could these be spruced up with a new coat of exterior paint or varnish?

Exterior work to the house is something we tend not to do very often, so it can be hard to know how to work out what you need and how much it will cost.  Following an online guide like HomeHow will make the process nice and simple.

floor tiles

New flooring

The hallway is an overlooked part of the home, and it’s often seen as just a place to throw coats and shoes as we come inside.  You might not like the idea of spending time and effort on this part of the house, especially if there are more pressing needs in the kitchen or bathroom, but something as simple as updating the flooring can make a huge difference.

Hallway floors need to withstand a lot. This is a good reason to consider installing tiles.  Not only will they be able to cope with muddy feet and heavy traffic, they can also make a beautiful impact on the entrance to your home.

Add a downstairs toilet

Adding a downstairs toilet is one of the most practical ways to add value to your home.  Every modern home has a downstairs toilet now, so it’s something that buyers have come to expect. Do you have unused space, perhaps under the stairs?

There are plenty of compact toilets and sink units available on the market, so it’s possible to squeeze a downstairs loo into most spaces with a minimal budget.  A convenience for families, and guests too!

Restyle the kitchen

You don’t have to completely replace your kitchen to give it a revamp. Try swapping cupboard handles, and changing the taps on the sink. Or give accessories an update by adding new utensils, or co-ordinated storage jars and crockery. A few low-cost changes can quickly give your kitchen a new lease of life.

Change the sofa

Is your current sofa setup taking over the lounge?  Large corner sofas are a popular choice, but they can easily dominate the space.  Try switching to a couple of compact sofas instead.  This will give the impression of a bigger room, and also allow for more flexibility when it comes to positioning the rest of the furniture.

Buy new bedding

This last tip is a super-easy and clever way of refreshing your bedroom.  Treat yourself to some new bedding, and you’ll instantly make your bedroom feel more smart.  You can dial up the luxury by adding co-ordinating throws and cushions; these accessories are also a brilliant way to introduce a pop of colour to liven things up.

What’s your number one tip for easy ways to revive your home?
