Tips for creating a cosy home this autumn

September 13, 2021 by Catherine Leave a Comment

Collaborative post

The sun might still be shining, but autumn is edging ever closer. The change of season means it’ll soon be time to pack away the garden furniture, bid farewell to the paddling pool, and swap the sunhats for warm coats and scarves. But that doesn’t mean the fun is over – there’s still plenty to look forward to as the cooler and most colourful season of the year approaches.

As well as heading outdoors to enjoy nature at this time of year, creating a cosy home is another great way to embrace autumn.

Easy ways to create a cosy home

When creating a cosy home vibe for autumn, the aim is to prioritise comfort and warmth, while also channelling the freshness of autumnal air. Get this balance right, and your living spaces will be welcoming, relaxing and reflective of the season.

Here are some simple ways to make your home cosy for autumn.

Update your photos

Do you have photos of your favourite family moments on display? If so, it might be time for an update – and if you haven’t quite got around to creating that photo gallery, now’s a great time to start.

Autumn is the perfect opportunity to rediscover and display some of the moments from summer that made you smile. The team at hellocanvas can bring these memories to life with high-quality and vividly coloured canvas prints that come with a 75-year colour guarantee. Using modern printing techniques, your favourite images can be reimagined with razor-sharp quality and eye-catching details. All inks and materials used are environmentally friendly, so you can update your home for autumn while doing your bit for the planet.

Roll out the rugs

Temperatures fall as autumn progresses, so why not start the insulation process as early as possible and make your home extra cosy in the process? By adding thick rugs to your living areas, you’ll not only retain more heat in your home and save on energy costs, you’ll also add layers of comfort that everyone will enjoy as the weather turns colder.

Fragrance your home with autumnal scents

It’s time to put away those summery scents of vanilla, coconut and tropical tones. As you get cosier for autumn, consider swapping these out for fragrances with woody undertones and spiced notes, to really set the mood for some cosy family time. Choosing scented candles and diffusers in autumnal shades will also compliment your autumn colour palette.

Introduce an autumn wreath

Most of us associate door wreaths with the festive season, but they can be purchased for any time of year and are a wonderful way to welcome in the new season. Adding an autumnal wreath decorated with warm, rich colours from natural fabrics, faux flowers or decorations can set the seasonal tone perfectly. You could even have a go at making your own autumn wreath using natural materials such as leaves, flowers, berries and foliage.
