Have you been following my progress this Summer with my Baby Bio® Big Boost Challenge? Well it’s time for another update.
I’m using Baby Bio Outdoor® Flowers & Shrubs to show just what a difference the right plant food can make to your plants’ size, health and number of flowers.
Baby Bio® Outdoor Flowers & Shrubs is a liquid feed tailored to the needs of flowering plants and shrubs, giving you up to 70% more flowers compared with not feeding. It aims to support healthy, balanced growth, resulting in larger, brighter flowers and lush green leaves.
To take the Big Boost Challenge, you plant two identical containers, feed one of them every two weeks with Baby Bio Outdoor® Flowers & Shrubs, and just water the other one. With the container that’s fed with Baby Bio Outdoor®, after seven days you can expect to see noticeably greener, healthier leaves. After four weeks the plants will be up to 20% larger than the ones in the container that has just been watered, and after six weeks you can expect them to have up to 70% more flowers, which will last longer too.
It’s almost three months since I started the challenge back in May, when I planted up two identical containers with Summer-flowering plants.
Right from the start I watered one container with just water, and the other with Baby Bio® Outdoor Flowers & Shrubs. It’s really easy to use; you just use the measuring cup lid to add 10ml per litre of water in your watering can, then water as normal.
This next picture was taken four weeks later and the difference was starting to show, with bigger plants, greener leaves and more flowers.
Fast forward another four weeks, and this overhead view of the containers again shows the difference in size and number of flowers.
So, shall we take a look at how things are going after another four weeks?
At this stage in the challenge, we should be seeing longer-lasting blooms on the plants that have been fed with Baby Bio® Outdoor Flowers & Shrubs. Usually by this point in the Summer, my containers are starting to look a bit tired, and the ‘Not Fed’ container is definitely starting to flag. However as you can see, the ‘Fed’ container is still going strong. Take a look at them from above and the difference is even more obvious:
Such a difference in size, number of flowers, and overall green-ness! The ‘Not Fed’ plants are also looking much more straggly, patchy, and past their best, while the ‘Fed’ plants just look so much healthier.
I think this month has definitely seen the biggest effect so far from using Baby Bio® Outdoor Flowers & Shrubs; it’s glaringly obvious which container has been fed. We’ll be enjoying Summer blooms in that one for a good few weeks yet, which also means I don’t have to step in with new plants as soon as I normally would. Win-Win!
Look out for my final update on the Big Boost Challenge next month, when we’ll be able to take a look at the whole challenge from start to finish. If you’d like to catch up on the early stages of the challenge you can read more here, here and here.
I’m using the other product in the Baby Bio Outdoor range, Baby Bio® Outdoor Fruit & Veg, at my allotment this Summer. It’s tailored to the needs of fruit and vegetable plants, giving you up to 35% more produce compared to using a standard fertiliser. You can read more about my plants’ progress here, here and here.
Have you been giving Baby Bio® Outdoor a try this summer? If not, do you think you will now you’ve seen what a difference it can make? Let me know in the comments.
