Container plant care with Baby Bio Pour & Feed: 3 month update

August 2, 2017 by Catherine 2 Comments

Container plant care tips, plus an update on my experience of using Baby Bio Pour & Feed plant food to help container plants thrive.

How’s your garden looking now that we’re into late summer?

We’ve had a good summer weather-wise in the UK – including some crazy heat in late June – and I’ve really enjoyed my garden this year.  I’ve been trying hard to water effectively, and I’ve also been learning more about dealing with plant diseases and plant pests in an effort to keep everything as healthy as possible.  The regular games of football and cricket that go on in our garden have taken their toll on a few flowers, but other than that we’ve done pretty well!

You might remember that back in May, I shared lots of tips for container plant care.  Container plants are more reliant on us to provide them with the essential nutrients and water they need to thrive, so it’s a good idea to have some tricks up your sleeve to help get the best out of them.  I thought it would be nice to give you a little update on how my container plants are getting on a few months later!

Regular feeding is a really important element of caring for container plants, because they can quickly exhaust the nutrients in their compost and start to struggle.  Ideally you should use a feed which is specifically designed for container plants; this summer I’ve been using Baby Bio® Pour & Feed on mine.

Baby Bio® Pour & Feed is designed for houseplants and outdoor plants in containers and hanging baskets.  It contains balanced nutrients for healthy plant growth, and it’s also enriched with seaweed.  Regular use will encourage bigger, greener leaves and vibrant flowers.  Baby Bio® Pour & Feed should be used every 7-14 days while plants are actively growing, I’ve been using it every two weeks throughout the summer.

So what do I like about this product?  Well for starters, I absolutely love the fact that it’s ready to use, as this makes it super quick and easy to feed my plants.  You don’t have to dilute it into your watering can; you just use the cap to measure out the right amount for the size of your container, then pour it straight onto the soil around the plants.  This convenience means I’m much more likely to stick to a regular feeding programme and find less excuses to put it off until another day!

It’s also great that you can use Baby Bio® Pour & Feed on all container plants, including houseplants.  Again, this makes it really convenient to use, as you can get all the feeding done in one go with just one product.

And then there’s the main reason I’m pleased with Baby Bio® Pour & Feed: the effect it has had on my plants.  Shall we take a look at how they’ve got on since I started using it?

I planted up some patio containers with bedding plants at the start of the summer, and they’ve done really well.  I love the way this square planter has developed it’s own natural look, with the plants tumbling over the edges and really filling up the space.

The purple blooms are a double-headed variety of petunia, and I cannot get enough of their velvety texture and depth of colour.  So tactile!

I’ve also been using Baby Bio® Pour & Feed on this hanging basket, which has been a joy to look out onto from the kitchen window.

I’ve fed the existing containers that we had in the garden, and we’ve had lots of lovely flourishing plants in those too.

This miniature rose has been languishing in a pot on the deck for about five years, and was looking rather sorry for itself.  Having treated the leaf spot with Fungus Fighter and fed it with Baby Bio® Pour & Feed, it’s unrecognisable!

My houseplants have also been enjoying the benefits of a regular feed; I’m really pleased with how vibrant their leaves are and they’ve all produced a decent amount of new growth.

I have to be honest, I’m usually a bit hit and miss when it comes to looking after my houseplants.  Being able to just wander in from the garden and carry on using the same feed without any faffing about has made all the difference, and I feel like I’m much more in the habit of taking regular care of them now.

So, what do you think of the results from using Baby Bio® Pour & Feed?  I’m really pleased with my plants this summer, it’s been such a pleasure to see them thriving and everything is still looking great, even after three months.  I’m definitely going to carry on using Baby Bio® Pour & Feed; it’s so easy to use and it does such a great job of keeping my plants healthy.  What’s not to love?!

Will you be giving Baby Bio® Pour & Feed a try with your container plants?

Thanks for an interesting post; feeding, watering and deadheading deem to be the key to healthy containers. Your photos are amazing, so clear with great depth of field, what camera do you use?

Thanks for the lovely feedback! I use a Nikon D5100 and these shots were taken with a Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4 prime lens.
