How’s your Christmas shopping going? I’m almost done; I find the kids so easy to buy for, but the adults are a different matter. I still have a few grown-up gifts to find, and I’m on the lookout for some less run-of-the-mill ideas; the sort of gift that you wouldn’t necessarily find in every shop. When I’m searching for this kind of gift, I always make a beeline for Homesense.
I love Homesense. It’s a great one-stop shop for home and garden, with everything from soft furnishings, toiletries, home accessories and furniture to toys and gift food, all under one roof. Their stock changes regularly, so every time I pop into my local store there’s always something new to find. I particularly like the fact that their displays combine lots of different products under the same theme, so you can easily see how things might look together, or find something unexpected to inspire you. I inevitably come away with some stylish buys, and it’s great value too.
Last week I visited my local Homesense branch with some gardening gifts in mind. If you read my blog regularly it will come as no surprise to you that gardening runs in my family, and gardening-related presents always go down well. I picked up some fantastic gift ideas for the green-fingered people on my Christmas shopping list, and thought I’d share my selection with you.
For wildlife lovers
If you’re looking for a gift to suit a gardener who loves helping their local wildlife, this cute bird nesting box is perfect. It can be attached to a fence or shed and has an easy-access panel at the back for cleaning. You could even complement it with this wall-mounted dish, which will double up as either a bird bath or a feeder.
For container gardeners
Container plants need watering regularly, and this clever little water reservoir takes the hassle out of it for you. I love the quirky design and bright colour; I think it would be perfect for someone with a modern garden. It would be great for houseplants too.
For messy gardeners
Ask any gardener what the messiest part of their gardening kit is, and string will probably be the answer. String is a must-have in the garden, but it’s forever getting tangled up or mis-placed. This simple but clever tin keeps it tidy and tangle-free, and the lovely V&A design makes it a pleasure to look at too.
For stylish gardeners
Gardening equipment doesn’t have to look boring, and this gorgeous floral hand tool set is proof that practical can be pretty too. It’s an absolute bargain too.
For real gardening enthusiasts
If you’re shopping for a gardener who loves getting into the detail of their plants or their garden’s layout, this Orla Keily Gardening Journal is a great gift option. It’s beautifully made and packed with handy sections and pockets, including design inspiration, plant records and seasonal projects. This one is going on my wish list!
What do you think – have I given you some gift ideas for the gardening fans on your present list? This is just a small selection of the gardening range in-store at Homesense now, and I think it shows that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a really lovely gift. If you’re still looking for home and garden gift inspiration – or just keen to pick up a few pieces for your own home – Homesense is bound to have plenty of ideas to help you nail that shopping list.
