Win a bundle of gardening books from Dorling Kindersley

November 18, 2019 by Catherine 88 Comments

Welcome to a new giveaway on the blog, which is perfect for gardening fans – and anyone who is buying gifts for green-fingered friends and family this Christmas!

I’ve got a fantastic bundle of gardening books from Dorling Kindersley to give away to one lucky winner. There are titles to suit all ages of garden lovers and growers, and each book is beautifully presented and illustrated.

Let’s take a look at each title in more detail.

Dorling Kindersley gardening books I Can Grow a Sunflower

RHS I Can Grow a Sunflower

I Can Grow A Sunflower is perfect for very young gardeners.  The book takes budding gardeners on the journey of a mystery seed, learning how to plant it, what it needs to grow, and what it looks like when it flowers.

There’s a height chart and a packet of seeds included, so children can create their own version of the seed’s journey and learn about the plant life cycle first-hand in a practical extension of the book’s topic. It’s a lovely way to introduce young children to a fun gardening project and the gardening principles behind it.

Dorling Kindersley RHS The Magic & Mystery of Trees book

RHS The Magic & Mystery of Trees

The Magic & Mystery of Trees takes readers on a fascinating journey of exploration into the enchanting world of trees. Learn amazing tree facts (did you know that trees take care of each other, and that the whole forest is connected?), meet extraordinary trees from around the world, and learn about what trees do for us.

Combining photography with beautiful illustrations, this is a great book to encourage older children to explore and connect with nature.

Dorling Kindersley gardening books Veg in One Bed

Veg in One Bed

This book is perfect for gardeners who love the idea of grow your own, but don’t have lots of space. YouTube gardener Huw Richards shows you how to harvest your own home-grown food from just one raised vegetable bed that will provide something to eat every month of the year.

The book includes hacks to minimise maintenance and sustainable practices, such as clever ways of avoiding single-use plastics. A great choice for gardeners looking to grow tasty produce with a minimum of fuss.

Dorling Kindersley Monty Don Down to Earth paperback book

Monty Don Down to Earth

In Down to Earth, Monty Don shares the wealth of gardening knowledge he has built up over his 50 years of gardening. The book deals with topics such as garden design, colour, seasons, weeds, pests and growing your own.  Underpinning all of the knowledge and advice is Monty’s belief that gardening promotes mental and spiritual wellbeing.

Packed with practical advice, and a wealth of lovely photographs from Monty’s garden at Longmeadow, Down to Earth would make a great gift for anyone interested in improving their gardening knowledge.

Dorling Kindersley gardening books How to Create Your Garden

RHS How to Create Your Garden

Adam Frost has a simple philosophy: “Gardens are about four things: people, space, plants and a sense of place.” In How to Create Your Garden, Adam shows you how to apply this to make your perfect space, be that a city roof terrace or a cottage garden. His approach strips away complex design concepts and focuses on your garden wants and needs. Learn simple tools and techniques to help you plan your garden makeover and enjoy your garden for years to come.

With bags of practical advice and lots of garden inspiration, this is a great book for gardeners who are embarking on a garden design project.

What a fab bundle of gardening books! There really is something for every gardening fan here, and all the books would make lovely Christmas gifts. Which one would you love to receive?

I think it would have to be the Magic Of Trees. I adore trees, they all have incredible energy and yet they are unique. I like to lay my hands on the tree to connect with it’s vibration, and I particularly like to sit beneath their branches and look up through the leaves. They remind me of a cathedral with it’s arches.
