Eco-friendly cleaning with Seventh Generation plus giveaway

June 7, 2017 by Catherine 146 Comments

Welcome to a new giveaway, in collaboration with Seventh Generation, a new eco-friendly household cleaning products brand that has recently launched in the UK.  I’m offering two lucky winners the chance to try out the range, with a selection of products worth £35 up for grabs.

Seventh Generation hamper

Seventh Generation offer eco-friendly, plant-based, household cleaning products that really work.  The brand already has a huge following in America, and has recently launched in Tesco stores in the UK.

The company has over 25 years experience, and believes in clearly stating exactly what ingredients are used in it’s products.  This isn’t always the case with cleaning products, which means those bottles in your kitchen cupboards could contain toxic substances and other nasty ingredients, without you even knowing.  Seventh Generation have launched their #ComeClean campaign to highlight these undisclosed ingredients, and to help raise awareness about the alternative options for household cleaning products available in the shops.

I really like the idea of minimising nasty ingredients in the cleaning products that I use; not just for the impact it has on my family and home, but also for the impact it has on the environment.  It’s so easy to overlook bright artificial colours or hazard warnings, but with the range of more eco-friendly products increasing, I think we could all make small changes to the products we use without noticing any negative impact.  With that in mind, we’ve been trying out some products from the Seventh Generation range.

Seventh Generation free and clear dish liquid

Natural Dish Liquid is available in Lavender & Mint, and unscented Free & Clear.  It contains no synthetic fragrances or dyes, and all scents are made from 100% essential oils and botanical extracts.  We tried the Free & Clear variety, which made light work of the dishes, removing dried-on food effectively while feeling kind on the hands.

Seventh Generation all purpose cleaner

All-Purpose Natural Cleaning Spray is a great all-round product to have in the cupboard.  It can be used in the kitchen, bathroom and throughout the home to cut through grease, grime and dirt.  I like the fact that it’s fragrance-free, which is a welcome change to the chemical smells of similar products.  You need to leave it to soak for a minute or two when removing tougher stains, but it’s really effective.

Seventh Generation liquid laundry free and clear

Natural Laundry Detergent is available in Eucalyptus & Lavender, or unscented Free & Clear for sensitive skin. Again, it’s formulated with 100% essential oils and botanical extracts, and it’s suitable for all temperature washes.   Interestingly, there are no dyes or optical brighteners added; it’s the plant-based ingredients in the triple-enzyme formula that deliver the cleaning power.

I’ll be honest, I’ve always been very loyal to one brand of laundry detergent, and I wasn’t sure how a natural product would compare performance-wise.  Having tried it on our typical family wash, including plenty of kids clothes that were pretty grubby from playing outside, I’m impressed with the results; everything came out just as clean.

Seventh Generation concentrated laundry detergent

There’s also another laundry detergent in the Seventh Generation range.  Ultra-Concentrated Natural Washing Liquid tackles 66 loads from one concentrated, recyclable bottle, and is hypoallergenic for sensitive skin.

Seventh Generation glass and surface cleaner

Glass & Surface Natural Cleaning Spray is a plant-based formula that produces a streak-free shine on glass, mirrors and stainless steel.  It’s biodegradable, safe to use around children and pets, and does the job without producing harsh fumes.

Seventh Generation toilet bowl cleaner

Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner is fragranced with cypress and fir essential oils and botanical extracts to clean and freshen toilets and tackle stains.

So, thats the Seventh Generation range at a glance.  Which Seventh Generation products would you like to try in your home?

Win a hamper of Seventh Generation cleaning products

I’m giving away two hampers, each comprising a selection of products from the Seventh Generation range worth £35.  To enter, just follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter widget below.  Good luck!

I am sure that using the ones available in shops bleached and with god knows what else used to make them they can’t be great for the body but as us women all need them there’s been very few alternatives that really work. The glass and surface natural cleaner… I hate the chemically smell of normal glass cleaners so this would be perfect.

All-Purpose Natural Cleaning Spray – I am constantly cleaning the kitchen table and worktops. Normally I use wipes as they are quick and easier, but this sounds kinder to the environment.
