Welcome to a new giveaway, courtesy of the lovely people at toy retailer Jakks Pacific.  I’ve got a fantastic bundle of Disney Star Darlings dolls worth £59.97 to give away to one lucky winner.

Star Darlings dolls are a new range of fashion dolls from Jakks Pacific, and are based on the characters from the Disney Star Darlings animation.  The Star Darlings are twelve very special girls who live in Starland.  Their mission is to save their home planet by going on top-secret adventures to Earth, where they must help wishes come true to generate the positive wish energy that powers Starland.  So we’ve got adventure, magic, intergalactic travel, fashion and friendship all in the mix.

We’ve been checking out three of the dolls from the range – Libby, Scarlett, and Sage.

Star Darlings were on my daughter’s radar already; she spotted them when we last visited a toy shop and was really grabbed by their colourful outfits and accessories.  So when a big box of dolls arrived she was more than a little excited.

The dolls are fully poseable and really good quality, and there’s a lot of attention to detail in their faces, outfits and accessories.  They have pearly skin, large eyes and sparkly touches on their faces, and their hair is satisfyingly over-the-top.  Each doll comes with a musical instrument too, so they can rock out together.

She was particularly interested in the outfits; each doll has her own unique style to suit her personality, and each one is really different.  I like this aspect of the range; it’s not just lots of very similar dolls, and children can find a style to suit their own preferences.  Scarlett was our favourite, apparently because she has a really cool skirt and boots.   I agree, she does!

The Star Darlings dolls have been quite a hit in our house; there has been lots of outfit changing and swapping, as well as role play adventures and music sessions.  I think 5 years is at the lower end of the age range in terms of appeal; yes, the dolls are great to just play with and dress up, but the rock band theme and slight edge to the styling is aimed at older girls too.  And of course, there’s the ever-popular collectible element to the range too.  If you’re looking for fashion dolls with a bit more substance behind them I think they’re a great option.
