Black Friday is just around the corner – are you planning any purchases for your home?

Whether you’re looking to replace a less-than-ideal piece of kit, or just on the hunt for ways to make your home function better, now is a great time to take a look at what’s on offer.

I’ve been browsing Lifewit’s amazon store for home essentials inspiration. If there are areas of your home that could benefit from some practical products, it’s a great place to start.

Here’s a selection of my favourite home essentials from the range.

Storage solutions

You can never have enough storage!  Getting this home essential right can make the world of difference to the look of your home, not to mention how pleasant it is to live in.

With Christmas on the horizon, now’s a good time to have a clearout and review your home storage.  As well as making space for new gifts, it will also streamline your home before the decorations go up.

lifewit home essentials - clothes storage bags

Portable storage is a great way to quickly tidy away all manner of possessions.  It’s particularly well-suited to stashing bedding, clothes, toys and hobby equipment.  These clothes storage bags have a generous 90 litre capacity and would be perfect for storing summer clothes, spare bedding, and even soft toys.  If your cupboards have plenty of height, there’s also a taller, less wide option.  I like the fact that the handles and seams are reinforced, and the clear panel allows you to easily see the contents too.

lifewit striped laundry basket

Laundry baskets are another great option for clearing clutter.  Choose a smart design, and you can easily use it for so much more than dirty clothes.  With it’s sturdy handles and three colour options, this striped collapsible hamper is a stylish and practical way to store toys or cosy blankets.  Obviously it would make a great laundry basket too!

lifewit home essentials round laundry basket

If it’s specifically laundry you’d like to tame, this durable round laundry hamper is a good option.  It’s made of thick Oxford cloth with cushioned handles, and is available in two sizes and three colours.  It folds away easily when not in use too, making it perfect for university dorms and teenage bedrooms.

Outdoor adventures

If you’ve been spending more family time outdoors this year, chances are you’ve been thinking about buying equipment that will help you enjoy your adventures.

lifewit insulated lunch box

In my experience, on a day out one of the most important things to get right is having enough food and drink with you. This is particularly relevant if you’re taking children on the trip.  A practical insulated bag is a great way to keep food cold, or warm, and an easy way to carry it too.  This insulated lunch box is available in two sizes and has lots of practical features, including a leakproof lining, a wide opening top, side pockets and two carrying options.  If you need a more generous size, there’s a double decker cooler tote which has two separate compartments that allow you to separate food and drinks.  I think this one would be brilliant for a camping trip.

lifewit home essentials insulated casserole carrier

If you’re looking to dine al fresco in style, you’ll need a practical way to transport your dishes.  This insulated casserole carrier is a great way to carry things like lasagne, traybakes and marinated food for the barbecue.  Again, there’s a double decker option which allows you carry more than one dish. Both designs have handy exterior pockets for cutlery, napkins and condiments.

lifewit home essentials electric double burner

If you love your camping, a decent stove is a great piece of kit to have.  An electric stove avoids the need for gas canisters, and is ideal if you’ve booked a plot with electric hook-up.  This electric double burner would be great for families, or you could go for a high efficiency ceramic hot plate.  Both options are available as single burners too.

Home improvements

DIY projects and home maintenance have seen a real boom this year, thanks to lots of us spending more time in our homes. If you need to replace or upgrade your DIY kit, Black Friday is a good time to think about doing it.

lifewit home essentials telescopic ladder

Top of my list is a new ladder. We’ve been struggling with a rickety old stepladder all year, and it’s definitely time to upgrade.  I love the fact that this sturdy telescopic ladder folds down so small, and includes a carry strap for easy transport.  It’s going to be much easier to get those Christmas decorations up with one of these!

Will you be adding any of these home essentials to your Black Friday shopping list?
