If you read the blog regularly, you’ll know that as well as all things gardening, my other big passion is interiors. I’m forever planning our next home project, and I spend a lot of time browsing online for inspiration. I love the fact that the internet gives you access to so many businesses and their unique products; there’s no way you’d be able to find such a wide range on a real-life shopping trip, and it’s a great way to create a really unique style for your home.
I’m particularly thrilled with my most recent online discovery: Sogni Di Cristallo. Based in Venice, Italy, this fabulous artisan company produces handcrafted Murano glass lighting to die for. And when I say handcrafted, I really mean just that: these beautiful pieces are the product of a great deal of skill, care and attention.
The little island of Murano in Venice is world-renowned for it’s wonderful glass-making. Many years ago we visited the island and witnessed the glass being handmade, and it was absolutely breathtaking to watch the master craftsmen at work. It wasn’t the Sogni Di Cristallo workshop that we visited, but these pictures of their workshops are really bringing back the memories for me.
Now obviously, popping over to Venice to buy a beautiful handmade piece of glassware for your home isn’t exactly realistic, which is where Sogni Di Cristallo come in. Their gorgeous range of lighting is all handmade using traditional techniques, and is available online for worldwide delivery. All Sogni Di Cristallo products are supplied wired for the customer’s country standards – so there’ll be no fiddling about with adaptors or modifications when they arrive. Each product also has its own certificate of authenticity and is shipped with 100% insured express couriers.
Having spent a rather lovely morning browsing their range, I thought I’d share some of my favourite items to give you a taste of what’s on offer.
Wouldn’t these Chimera ceiling lamps look wonderful in a modern kitchen? They’re available as single pendants, but of course you could line them up like this for added impact.
Gold is enjoying such an interiors revival right now, and this Linus Wall lamp gives a subtle nod to the colour trend. I love the sleek curves too.
If you’re looking to make a real statement, the Vintage Collection is packed with stunning pieces. My favourite has to be this Fellini chandelier; with it’s mid-century styling it’s effortlessly elegant. It’s perfect for a luxurious room theme, but as you can see from this picture it will be equally at home in a modern setting.
How about this Kasa pendant light for nailing the industrial look? It’s part of the Murano Caged Collection, and is available in five bright colours. This would be perfect for giving my office a pop of colour.
I couldn’t make a favourites list without thinking about the garden! This beautiful Old Murano lantern from the Outdoor Lighting range is perfect for a more traditional look, and the patterned glass will create a gorgeous lighting effect on summer evenings.
What do you think of my selection? It’s just a small sample of the huge variety of products available online, and you can see the full Sogni Di Cristallo range here. Which handcrafted beauty would you choose for your home?
