Review & Giveaway: Hi-Tec Women’s Kono Espresso Walking Boots

October 18, 2016 by Catherine 212 Comments

review of hi-tec womens walking boots

Well autumn is most definitely here: the heating is on, the leaves are all over our garden (time to make leaf mould!), and our outdoor adventures need an altogether sturdier selection of coats, hats and footwear.

I’ve been on the lookout for a new pair of boots that can cope with winter conditions, and with perfect timing Hi-Tec have asked me to review their Kono Espresso women’s walking boots.  I’m also giving a pair away to one lucky winner, read on to find out how to enter.

hi tec kono espresso womens walking boots

The Kono Espresso waterproof women’s walking boots cost £79.99 and are designed to provide comfort, support and protection from the elements.  I like the fact that they’re way more stylish than your average walking boots, and look more like a fashion boot; I particularly like the faux fur and the soft suede uppers.  That said, when it comes to their features and performance these are still very much walking boots.

hi tec kono espresso womens walking boots

These boots felt so comfortable, right from the first time I wore them.  They have something called an Ortholite® Impressions insole, which feels really supportive, and over time moulds to the shape of your feet to create a customised fit.  There’s also arch support, and a midsole designed to absorb impact and give you extra cushioning.  This all translates into no need to wear them in, and a really comfortable, supported fit.

So far, I’ve been putting the boots through their paces on woodland walks and rainy school runs, and I’m pretty impressed.

hi tec kono espresso womens walking boots

The boots are designed to cope with uneven ground, with flex points placed strategically to help the foot move as naturally as possible.  Despite being really sturdy, they don’t feel big or clumsy to wear, and my feet can bend perfectly well while still being supported.  They also have great grip – brilliant for icy winter weather and slippery mud, not to mention chasing after the kids!

In the past, we’ve had walking shoes and boots that have claimed to be waterproof, but weren’t really, so I was keen to see how the Kono Espresso boots coped with wet conditions.  They have a waterproof technology called Dri-Tec, which keeps your feet dry while still allowing them to breathe.  I’ve deliberately waded through some really deep puddles, and my socks weren’t the slightest bit soggy afterwards.  The metal lace loops are rustproof too.

I’m really enjoying wearing the Kono Espresso walking boots; they look funky, they really support my feet, and they feel very comfortable and well-made.  They’re also perfect for our outdoor adventures, and I can be confident they’ll cope with whatever terrain we come across on our travels.  Do you think they could be your ideal boots for winter?
