Review & Giveaway: Hi-Tec Wild-Life Lux women’s walking boots

November 15, 2017 by Catherine 116 Comments

Reviewing the Wild-Life Lux women's walking boots from Hi-Tec, putting them through their paces on family outdoor adventures.

Are you getting outdoors and enjoying nature this season?  We’ve been having fun with a tree, leaf and seed hunt and putting our local park to good use; I’ve also been making the most of those crisp morning school runs to stomp through the leaves on the way home, such a good way to start the day!

It’s around this time of year that my walking boots become my go-to footwear for most of our family outings.  Rain, slippy leaves, mud and general wintry conditions are all pretty standard for the next few months, and it’s so important to have a good pair of boots that can cope.  I’ve been putting the Hi-Tec Wild-Life Lux walking boots through their paces this autumn, and I’m also giving a pair away to one lucky winner!

hi-tec wild-life lux womens walking boots

The Wild-Life Lux waterproof women’s walking boots cost £74.99; I chose the black/blue colourway, and they’re also available in a lovely rich brown.  I’m usually a size 6, but the size 7 was a perfect fit with a chunky pair of socks.  The Wild-Life Lux are also available in men’s sizes.

I love the fact that they don’t look like your typical walking boots; they have more of a trainer feel to them, while still retaining all the practical features you’d expect from a walking boot.  You could easily wear them as everyday boots – in fact that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.

hi-tec wild-life lux womens walking boots

Having worn these boots quite a bit over the last few weeks, I can tell you they are really comfortable.  I’ve had walking boots in the past that felt really stiff and didn’t flex as I walked, and these are nothing like that.  The slow recover foam insole really cushions the feet, plus there’s something called an XLR8 midsole to absorb impact, and a moulded heel to keep the foot secure. The fleecy lining is designed to wick moisture away too, so your feet stay toasty without overheating.  Basically, there’s a lot of clever technology going on that makes them super-comfy to wear.

There are lots of sensible features built into these boots.  They have a gusseted tongue that keeps out annoying little stones and twigs, and the metal lacing system is rustproof.

When it comes to grip, the rubber outsole has Multi-Directional Traction that allows you to cope easily with varied terrain.  I’ve tramped them through mud, grass, soggy leaves and uneven paths, and they’ve never once felt anything other than really stable.

Walking boots absolutely must be waterproof in my opinion; that might sound like a pretty obvious statement, but in reality not all boots are!  The Wild-Life Lux boots have certainly passed the test; the uppers are made from premium leather and coated in Hi-Tec’s exclusive i-shield invisible technology which repels water (it also repels dirt and resists stains), and the gusseted tongue prevents leaks when you’re wading through serious puddles.  There’s also a Dri-Tec membrane inside, which is waterproof but also breathable.

I can definitely recommend the Wild-Life Lux walking boots.  They’re comfortable, well-made, and packed with clever features that really deliver when it comes to performance.  If you’re looking for a walking boot that combines practicalities with a stylish, casual look, they’re a great option.  What’s your favourite thing about them?
