Product Showcase & Giveaway: Bridgedale walking socks

Exploring the Bridgedale range of high performance walking socks, plus a chance to win a family bundle of socks from the range.

Welcome to a new product showcase and giveaway, perfect for those of you who are looking forward to some outdoor family fun this autumn.  I’ve got a family bundle of fantastic walking socks from British company Bridgdale worth £49.96 to give away – perfect timing isn’t it?!

So the kids have gone back to school, and autumn is making it’s way into our lives.  In our house, that means digging out the wellies and looking forward to lots of outdoor adventures in puddles, piles of leaves and mud!  If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years when it comes to kitting us all out for a successful outdoor trip, it’s that you’ve absolutely got to get the footwear right.

Waterproof footwear – whether that’s wellies or walking shoes – is a must, but equally important are good quality socks inside that footwear.  I look for products that use natural fibres, are breathable, and give good protection against rubbing.  We’ve been trying out a selection of socks from Bridgedale on our recent expeditions, here’s a bit more information on the product range and how we’ve got on.

bridgedale socks range

Bridgedale Outdoor are based in Belfast and are a global leader in the manufacture of outdoor socks, hats and gloves.  Their sock range has clever WoolFusion technology built-in, which maximises the benefits of natural wool and technical fibres to create a light, comfortable sock that really delivers on performance too.

MerinoFusion Hiker Junior

The Hiker Junior socks are available in three sizes and retail at £7.99.  They’re made from natural Merino wool and technical performance microfibres, which makes them really durable, but still lovely and comfy to wear.  They feel really soft on the skin, and they’re brilliant at wicking moisture away to keep feet nice and cool.  We liked the generous padding on the soles, and the deep band at the top which held them up without digging in.

WoolFusion Trekker Junior

The Trekker Junior socks are available in three sizes and retail at £8.99.  Again, they combine natural wool with technical fibres to optimise performance and comfort.  The slim fit was perfect for my daughter’s narrow feet, and she found the targeted cushioning on the soles really comfy.  The ribbed leg section is designed to be low tension, which worked really well; they stayed up no problem without leaving any marks on her legs.

CoolFusion Trailblaze Adult

Now I’m really fussy about my socks, and these passed the test!  The CoolFusion Trailblaze are available in men’s and women’s sizes and retail at £16.49.  They’re easy to pull on, they stay where they should, and they feel so comfortable to wear.  The ventilation panels definitely work; I found that my feet didn’t get too hot despite a good long walk.  I think they gave me a bit of extra support around my ankles too, and there’s also something called T2 padding which provides anti-shock cushioning at the achilles, heel and metatarsal head.  There really is quite a lot of tech going on for a pair of socks!

We’ve been really impressed with our Bridgedale socks.  They’ve kept our feet comfortable and dry, and they’ve washed well too.  I can see them getting lots of use inside those wellies and waking shoes over the next few months!

  8. I like the Merino fusioin trekker women’s socks. (hope this is the right place to comment couldn’t get the link in the widget to work)

  9. Merino Fusion SKI Vertige Light – a wonderfully colourful, highly comfortable fit :)

  10. I know they’re mens, but I love the MerinoFusion SKI Vertige Light – especially the black/green ones

  11. The trekker ones look good. We’ll be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary at the end of October and we’re going to go back to Zermatt, where we spent part of our honeymoon. This time we’re going there as a family of four. We’ll be doing a lot of walking, hopefully to the foot of the Matterhorn so these walking socks would be perfect for us.

  12. I have some Bridgedale Mountaineering socks, designed for extremely cold weather, which I wore during the winter when I worked outside all day at an inner city farm. Even after spending 8 hours out of doors in the cold and damp, the socks kept my feet warm. If you have to spend time outdoors in cold weather, I can recommend them.
