Review & Giveaway: Hi-Tec Wild-Life Lux women’s walking boots

Reviewing the Wild-Life Lux women's walking boots from Hi-Tec, putting them through their paces on family outdoor adventures.

Are you getting outdoors and enjoying nature this season?  We’ve been having fun with a tree, leaf and seed hunt and putting our local park to good use; I’ve also been making the most of those crisp morning school runs to stomp through the leaves on the way home, such a good way to start the day!

It’s around this time of year that my walking boots become my go-to footwear for most of our family outings.  Rain, slippy leaves, mud and general wintry conditions are all pretty standard for the next few months, and it’s so important to have a good pair of boots that can cope.  I’ve been putting the Hi-Tec Wild-Life Lux walking boots through their paces this autumn, and I’m also giving a pair away to one lucky winner!

The Wild-Life Lux waterproof women’s walking boots cost £74.99; I chose the black/blue colourway, and they’re also available in a lovely rich brown.  I’m usually a size 6, but the size 7 was a perfect fit with a chunky pair of socks.  The Wild-Life Lux are also available in men’s sizes.

I love the fact that they don’t look like your typical walking boots; they have more of a trainer feel to them, while still retaining all the practical features you’d expect from a walking boot.  You could easily wear them as everyday boots – in fact that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.

Having worn these boots quite a bit over the last few weeks, I can tell you they are really comfortable.  I’ve had walking boots in the past that felt really stiff and didn’t flex as I walked, and these are nothing like that.  The slow recover foam insole really cushions the feet, plus there’s something called an XLR8 midsole to absorb impact, and a moulded heel to keep the foot secure. The fleecy lining is designed to wick moisture away too, so your feet stay toasty without overheating.  Basically, there’s a lot of clever technology going on that makes them super-comfy to wear.

There are lots of sensible features built into these boots.  They have a gusseted tongue that keeps out annoying little stones and twigs, and the metal lacing system is rustproof.

When it comes to grip, the rubber outsole has Multi-Directional Traction that allows you to cope easily with varied terrain.  I’ve tramped them through mud, grass, soggy leaves and uneven paths, and they’ve never once felt anything other than really stable.

Walking boots absolutely must be waterproof in my opinion; that might sound like a pretty obvious statement, but in reality not all boots are!  The Wild-Life Lux boots have certainly passed the test; the uppers are made from premium leather and coated in Hi-Tec’s exclusive i-shield invisible technology which repels water (it also repels dirt and resists stains), and the gusseted tongue prevents leaks when you’re wading through serious puddles.  There’s also a Dri-Tec membrane inside, which is waterproof but also breathable.

I can definitely recommend the Wild-Life Lux walking boots.  They’re comfortable, well-made, and packed with clever features that really deliver when it comes to performance.  If you’re looking for a walking boot that combines practicalities with a stylish, casual look, they’re a great option.  What’s your favourite thing about them?

  1. I love that the boots are waterproof that is definitely a must for the winter months,I think it is great the boots have a gusseted tongue i have never heard of that until now! Fantastic as there is nothing worse than getting a stone in your shoe.

  2. Nothing worse than returning from a hike with cold wet feet so I like the fact theyare waterproof

  3. The super grippy soles are massively appealing as my top of the range Merrell boots are slippy in wet weather!

  4. The sheild technology and the breathable membrane make them sound like your feet would be lovely and dry.

  5. I love that they are leather and water repellent as quite often walking boots are fabric and just get soggy.

  6. walking a great deal on the moors, water ingress is a really big problem, being waterproof is its biggest advantage to myself

  7. The Dri-Tec waterproof, breathable membrane sounds great as there’s nothing worse than soggy socks

  8. I like this feature – OrthoLite® Impressions insole with slow recovery foam delivers superior cushioning with instant and long lasting comfort.

I love walking, so having comfy walking boots on is a must for me, thanks for the giveaway, I would love to win these.

  9. These would be perfect for my wife, we walk every where, and on all terrain, the waterproof aspect of the boot sounds great

  10. Walking in wet soggy socks is really uncomfortable so the Dri-Tec waterproof breathable membrane that keeps feet dry is a great feature

  11. I like the fact that these boots are waterproof and that they actually look like trainers and so are less rigid than walking boots.

  12. Waterproof! As you say, should be pretty obvious but my current walking boots are so old and battered I can’t quite trust them anymore!
A new pair would be fantastic, please.
    Cheers x

  13. The Dri-Tec waterproof and breathable membrane to keep feet dry, as there is nothing worse than getting wet feet while hiking x

  14. The i-shield invisible technology sounds handy for when your boots get clarted in mud and rain!

  15. I love the fact that they are waterprrof. I wear trainers most of the time & my feet get very wet in bad weather.

  16. My favourite feature has to be that it has molded heel chassis locks the heel in for a secure fit

  17. that they are waterproof as it rains so much here and I walk my dog every day, wellies just aren’t suitable for that I need a good walking boot like these. I’ve had my hi tec v lites for the past 5 years and worn them every day in all weathers on all kinds of trails and they’ve only just started to let water in so they are very good value for money indeed

  18. They look so comfortable and great to know they are waterproof as there is nothing worse than soggy feet

  19. The underfoot cushioning would be wonderful as I have fallen arches and walking is often very painful.

  20. I-shield technology to repel the water and dirt because they will need less cleaning and that must be good!

  21. Waterproof is my main concern there is nothing worse than wet feet!!! Fantastic prize, thank you x

  22. Micro-fleece moisture wicking lining keeps the foot dry – this sounds great, keeps water out, and you shouldn’t get clammy either.

  23. the gusseted tongue is a really good idea because without it the waterproofing is a bit wasted. In severe rain the water would get in round the tongue without it!

  24. The Hi-tech Invisible technology which means that the boot is waterproof. The fact that they are also breathable is a bonus.

  25. The waterproofing is obviously the essential feature for me living in a very wet part of Devon! But I love the look and the comfort sounds perfect as I walk several miles at a time.

  26. The waterproofing features. So many of walks have been spoilt by waterlogged shoes and trainers!

  27. Loving the sound of sheild technology and the breathable membrane. Keeping feet free of moisture with room to breath is an essential part of excellent footwear :) x

  28. in the current weather situation on my home time the fact they are waterproof is a bonus and really helpful

  29. THESE ARE BRILLIANT
AND EVEN GREAT AS THEY ARE WATER PROOF AND THATS A MUST
    IN THE WINTER MONTHS

  30. My boots are old and letting in water so these would be great as they are waterproof. If I were to buy these myself, the price would be more in my range than some walking boots .They look stylish as well.

  31. My favourite bit is that they are both waterproof and breathable. Sometimes waterproof boots that are not breathable can make your feet feel like your walking barefoot through a bog lol
